The difference between Lightroom and Photoshop is huge! There are two applications with different purposes (which means that the use of both into a single picture to be displayed.)
Photoshop is an image editing application. He edits the pixels of the file and thus have enough control to edit details or major manipulation. This also makes every issue, lose data (quality) of the picture because we are editing pixels.
Lightroom is an application aimed at photographers. With it you organize the photos in several ways, eases the process of printing and web publishing, and also edits. But the editing in Lightroom is much more specific (and fine). It’s an issue without loss of quality (made by a file of “instructions”, not directly on the image.) Publishing the Lightroom should be compared to the edition found in Adobe Camera RAW (which anyone who has photographs in Photoshop and RAW should already know.
To facilitate an example of how I use the two together:
Lightroom:
1. Step photos from memory card to your computer
2. Add metadata for those photos (provided by copyright keywords)
3. I organize my workouts in a catalog
4. Seeing the photo of a session I organize and select the best, chosen by the customer, should be excluded …
5. After making a selection (or my client) make a fine edition in the photos (which can be exposure adjustment, recovery of shadows or lights, noise reduction …)
Photoshop
1. What is not possible in Lightroom (like assembly and modifications of the pixel) do in Photoshop.
He saw only the difference?
Lightroom is especially practical for those shooting in RAW, and has tools specially made to streamline the photographer’s life. Photoshop “only” serves to manipulate images right.
