Mayor Resigns Effective Jan. 01, 2009

It's Official the Mayor has submitted his Resignation to the Borough at tonight's Borough Meeting, all but one voted in favor of his Resignation. Effective Jan. 01, 2009 the Borough will appoint someone in his seat as Mayor for the remainder of the year. I want to take this time as well to say our hearts go out for his wife's illness, and wish her the best of recovery. Furthermore, we wish Mayor O'Neill the best in his future endeavors.

In it, he said the primary reason for his action was the health and medical needs of his wife. A secondary reason, he said, were "obvious political conflicts that have led to my decision to spend my retirement in peace."
